Avoid Opioid, Avoid Spinal Fusion

The five latest recommendations by the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists regarding Low Back Pain are:
1. Avoid prescribing opioids
2. Do not continue opioid prescription
3. Avoid prescribing pregabalin and gabapentin .
4. Do not prescribe benzodiazepines (ie: valium etc)
5. Do not refer for spinal fusion surgery.
